We're now down to eleven days before the start of chemo and all of its yukky side effects. On July 8th she'll have a port installed in her right upper chest to facillitate the chemo applications and give a "one-stop shopping" site for drawing blood and those types of things. The son of one of our dear friends (which automatically makes him a dear friend) lives in South Bend and works at Notre Dame. He has been generously lighting candles for Gay there and I'll enclose a really neat picture he took from a "candles" point of view. We've had so many nice comments and emails from you and Gay enjoys reading each and every one of them. She has "only" played four rounds of golf (quite well, I may add) since the diagnosis and is getting ready to go out again. Breaking news! She just got home after shooting an 83 with a triple bogey! There's NOTHING stopping this girl!!

You go girl! Remember, don't let them put that port where straps go.
that is the babies birthday, so it is an extra special day for us as far as miracles are concerned. we will make sure to take some extra time that day to pray for you gay! good luck and best wishes with the procedure. we are actually in south bend this weekend and are headed to the grotto, so consider another candle lit just for you.
Hi Gay.
Sorry to hear the news, but we don't know anyone else more determined or able to fight. You are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. If we can help in any way: driving to/from treatments, driving your mom to her doctor's appointments, a casserole (or two, or three, or more---George will give references!), errands, books/magazines to buy/read, or anything else, please call. We're here for you, and we're with you, and we're only a few doors down the road!
Love and hugs,
Pat & George
Mom - It's so great to see all of the support and love you have from your friends near and far. They clearly know the same lady I know! They know how strong and determined you can be and will be. We love you!

Hi Gabby - I had so much fun in Costa Rica with you and doing the zipline together. I love you and can't wait to see you again!!! Love, Darby

I am sitting here at work and thinking of my childhood with you in it, and how you, Fran and AL were the older ones and we couldn't play with you because we were the little ones. The same fight you has then is needed for this fight. I will be saying prayers for you. Stay tough, I know you can fight it. Love You,
Liz (Grau) Neukam
Gay, You know our prayers are with you as you continue the fight. I want you to know we are here for you, to run erands or what ever you need help with. our love to you.
